Welcome to the Candice Miller for Congress website! I truly appreciate the support shown to me by my constituents in the 10th district during my first three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. I am honored to have been re-elected and look forward to serving my fourth term in the United States Congress. Events and challenges constantly change, but my commitment to serve the people in the 10th Congressional District of Michigan remains the same: I will work hard every day to continue to earn your trust.
I believe the first and foremost responsibility of the federal government is to provide for the national defense and to protect the Homeland—it is in the Preamble to our Constitution. So it was a great honor to be appointed to the House Committee on Homeland Security, and to be the only Michigan Member of Congress to serve on that important committee. This year, as we began the 111th Congress, I was also very fortunate to continue my service on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. This position allows me to focus on issues such as roads and bridges, but also will allow me to work on one of my principle advocacies, the protection of our Great Lakes.
I am optimistic that working in a bi-partisan manner, this Congress will be able to tackle the most critical challenges facing our nation. And, as a Member of the Michigan delegation, I also pledge to renew the efforts of our state’s delegation to address the issues that are important to the great state of Michigan, and to the citizens who live here.
